Groovin on the Green

Cashiers summer concert series Groovin on the Green July 30th with Nikki Talley performing. Nikki received a grant from the arts council in western North Carolina to record her debut 'brother' in 2002.Relocating to Toronto Canada in 2004, Nikki found herself playing little coffee houses and clubs in Toronto's big scene...struggling to make a name for herself in the cold city of Toronto, she bought a 16 track digital recorder and decided to document her time in the great white north. The result: 'telling lies' is a full length album that Nikki produced last year.
After her 3 year stint in Toronto, Canada, Nikki Talley was awarded the prize of "Carolina star" (the American idol-Esque competition in western North Carolina with over three hundred competitors and a $10,000 prize!)...what a welcome home!!! now nestled back home in Asheville, North Carolina, she embarked on a musical flight that captures her Appalachian roots. Nikki picked up her guitar and mother's banjo and began working on her latest album.'TO BE A BIRD' (released 2008) is a beautiful album drawing comparisons to Gillian Welch & early Liz Phair...Nikki performed, produced, recorded & mixed the record...guest appearances include Mike Guggino (Steep Canyon Rangers), Tim Gardner (High Windy Band), Aaron Price, & Jason Sharp. self taught & captivating...mesmerizing audiences with her energetic stage performance, her powerful voice & strongly emotional and seductive lyrics, Nikki's songs are very unique and each one gives us different look inside the artist...from pretty piano tunes to guitar-based acoustic rock songs or banjo ballads, each is all a part of her...simple & raw.
